Obtaining a visa before departure is mandatory to travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The DRC Embassy in Pretoria offers the following visas:

• Tourist Visa: Travelers visiting the Democratic Republic of Congo for leisure and recreation or to meet friends and family
  – You are traveling through the DRC
  – You are on an organized tour
  – You are meeting friends and family

• Business Visa: Applicants who want to visit the Democratic Republic of Congo for reasons such as:
  – You are visiting for a business-related purpose
  – You are attending a conference, meeting or training
  – You are taking part in a sports activity
  – You are sharing skills and knowledge on a specific internal project with DRC employees
  – You are receiving training in work methods and procedures that are essential for your employment abroad
  – You are doing short-term academic research without compensation

The Embassy of the DRC in South Africa only issues multiple entry visas valid for 90 days or 180 days.

• Valid Passport: Your passport must be valid for the duration of your intended stay in The DRC, with at least one blank page for the visa stamp
• Visa Application Form: This form must be duly completed and signed by the applicant
• Passport Photos: Two recent colour passport photographs on a white background (You may email a photo to VisaRequest to print at a fee of R100 for 6)
• Yellow fever certificate: A copy of the International Certificate of Vaccination (ICV) for yellow fever

Requirements for a Tourist Visas:

• Itinerary: Accommodation booking such as hotel booking confirmation or the schedule from a tour guide and a provisional flight reservation with the applicant’s name on the itinerary
• Bank Statements: The latest three month’s bank statements

Requirements for a Business Visa:

• Employment letter: Letter from your employer confirming your employment, your intended travel dates and that you will return to work when you return from the DRC and include the details of your Business Contact in DRC
• Invitation letter: Signed invitation letter from the inviting company on the letterhead describing the business activity in the DRC with a copy of the invitee’s passport and it should include the applicant’s name and the name, address and telephone number for a contact person
• Flight booking: Provisional flight reservation
